A suspect is being investigated for first-degree murder following a woman’s death in downtown Denver.
At about 8:15 a.m. Saturday, officers responded to the area of East 16th Avenue and Broadway on a report of person who was unconscious in a stairwell, according to a police news release. A woman was found dead at the scene.

On Tuesday, police arrested Innis Lee Collins, 38, as a suspect in the case.
“It is believed that Collins and the victim were in a current or previous relationship,” police said.
The identity of the victim will be released by the Denver Office of the Medical Examiner. Filing of criminal charges in the case will be determined by the Denver District Attorney’s Office.
