The Denver Police Department launched an ongoing investigation into the death of one person after a shooting on Memorial Day near East Colfax.

The fatal shooting occurred in an alley along the 1600 block of Willow and Xanthia streets, according to a tweet by the Denver police published around 5 p.m. Monday. The suspect is still at large, with officers working to develop related information.

Initially, the victim was found with injuries to an unknown extent, but an update posted after 6 p.m. pronounced the person’s death. The Denver Office of the Medical Examiner is expected to issue victim identification and cause of death.
