Officers pursuing a shooting suspect in west Denver on Thursday afternoon crashed a patrol vehicle and the suspect was caught and taken into custody.

The shooting happened in the Barnum area of West 1st Avenue and North Knox Court, police said. The shooting victim, a man, was taken to a local hospital with injuries that are not life-threatening.

Officer responding to the shooting spotted a suspect vehicle and pursued it, police said.

“During an attempt to stop the suspect vehicle, the police vehicle rolled,” police said.

Two officers were taken to a local hospital with “minor injuries.”

The shooting suspect was taken into custody in the Westwood area of South Tennyson Street and West Tennessee Avenue, police said. An investigation is ongoing. There were no other injuries in the incident.
